Well your guess is as good as mine, right now.
You see since I started COTW, I’ve wanted to create a hub of some kind. Instagram is great to share quick little snippets, but it is NOT great for engaging at depth in my humble opinion. It gives you a feel for the brand and perhaps the people behind it, but we have to feed the beast which is the all mighty ALGORITHM. Love it or hate it, it is a reality.
I tried Discord. It had potential, but it’s…it’s a little too stripped down still. It’s fun for a bit but once again, it’s hard to really drill into things there. Very rapidly turns into a stream of consciousness that’s hard to navigate and a little abstract.
Here’s been my conundrum in a nutshell; I want to draw pictures, TAKE pictures, design shirts, write comics and engage with you all under the banner of COTW. Up until now it’s seemed like I could only do a little bit of these things in small doses. Let’s be honest as well, Instagram isn’t really meant to be a platform we’re having deep discussions on. It’s a fun (and hopefully inspiring) place to engage on a pretty surface level.
Then Substack entered the chat.
Like the rest of COTW, this is going to be a real time experiment, but I have high hopes for this. It feels like there’s room to grow here, and most importantly, to build.
As I said before, my goal from the jump with COTW was to build a space I wish existed. A place where we celebrate who we are as a country, and the heritage we all share as hard working Americans who’s families have come from all across this world to make this great nation what it was, and yet still be. We can be different, and think different and still treat each other with respect and dignity, and be good neighbors.
I hope you’ll join me here.
